20 Life Lessons I Learned In My 20's

This weekend markers the end of a decade for me. I will no longer be in my 20's which means I am officially an adult sigh. So I've heard 20's are the new 30'syou can only hope right? I thought it would only be appropriate to share with you my '20 Life Lesson's I Learned In My 20's'. So here they are, no particular order...

My 20's were filled with HIGH, HIGH'S and LOW, LOW'S. I accomplished many goals, graduating with a degree in Portrait Photography, Cosmetology and even opened my dream Business [Spotlight Style Boutique & Salon]. I also experienced some tragic personal life changes but I fought through them. I often have people ask me how I feel about turning the BIG 3-0? My answer usually is... "I am ready for a new life and new decade, I think that my 30's will be my best year's yet! I am ready for a fresh start!" Thank you for reading todays blog, if you have any advice about turning 30 I would love to hear! My friend's tell me that I will get my first wrinkle at midnight, I am using extra strength eye cream!

A TOAST TO MY 30'S!

My Boho Chic Hairstyle: Tutorial

Get this Boho Chic Hairstyle in a matter of minutes! I started off by curling my hair, you can also do this with straight hair.

 1. You will need a Pink Pewter Stretch Band. Place it over your head like a headband [I positioned mine across my forehead].

 2. Starting from one side, take a small section of your hair and twist into the stretch band.

3. Keep looping hair through the stretch band to one side.

4. Once you have gotten the back half of your hair rolled into the stretch band, leave the remaining font [opposite side] and back section of your hair out. Curl hair if it has not already been done.

5. Spray style with your favorite hairspray to secure. I used Pureology Strengthening Control Hairspray, it is lightweight and adds shine.

No bobbie pins needed! The Pink Pewter Stretch Bands have a nice secure grip keeping your hair in place all day long.

I went for more of a messy look. You can also have it a little more polished which works great for a formal style.

This hairstyle is so simple, taking only a few minutes after I curled my hair. I love this style because it is perfect on days when you are running late for work, after working out or even a wedding! I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and try it for yourself! The Pink Pewter Stretch Bands are available in my boutique

About halfway through the winter I seem to hit a rut. I get bored wearing the same ole winter clothes and am ready for dresses and sandal season. But then I come to realization that there is still snow on the ground and it may be a while before I am able to bust out the flip flops! If you're tired of wearing the same ole winter clothes like I am, being creative with what you have in your closet or finding a new piece to add will help your mood. We just received this Tweed Printed ' Adriana' Vest in my boutique and I was instantly inspired! Mixing Prints + Layering your styles will help change up your winter wardrobe. I already had this red + black Plaid Blouse in my closet and layering this vest helps create a unique illusion of contrast and texture. I kept my jewelry simple accenting the gold zipper with the gold jewelry and ankle boots. Finding the perfect vest to add to your wardrobe and mixing your pieces to pair it with will keep your look unique and fun! There are endless possibilities of how you could style this vest you just have to be creative!

New Year Hair Challenge

It's a New Year which means everyone is working on their New Year resolutions. I did not create any because I never stick with them, so I decided I would start 2015 off right and do a Healthy Hair Challenge! Being a hairstylist I have access to so many amazing products and have been trying to grow my hair out while still applying bleach. My challenge consists of 3 amazing products that will help achieve Healthy, Shiny, 'Pre-Colored like' Hair.

3 Simple Products to Healthy Shiny Hair:

1. Pureology Nano Works Shampoo: Transform aging color-treated hair into dramatically improved new  hair condition. This luxurious shampoo will make your 'old' hair look and feel like 'new' pre-colored hair without stripping color. Use this shampoo every 2 weeks to 1 month depending how often you shampoo and you will see a noticable difference!

2. Pureology Nano Works Conditioner: Experience extraordinary daily conditioning and intensified  shine while protecting color radiance. This conditioner revives hair, infusing it with youthful vibrancy and intense shine. Use this after you shampoo with the Nano Works Shampoo.

3. Pureology Colour Fanatic 21 Spray: 21 essential benefits all wrapped up in to one bottle! This amazing spray will prep, prime & protect your hair + 21 essential vitamins for healthy beautiful hair. With Fennel Seed extract, and natural blend of camelina, coconut and olive oil, this leave in treatment protects and strengthens for longer-lasting, prefect-looking color. To use: spray on clean wet hair, comb through and blow dry.

We are offering a special on these 3 products this month at Spotlight Style Boutique & Salon, otherwise if you live out of town you can find your nearest Pureology Salon by clicking the link. I am only a few days into this challenge I can already feel a difference in my hair! Winter time can be very hard on your hair, leaving it dry and frizzy. Since using these products my hair has been soft, smooth and shiny! I will post photos of my hair at the end of my challenge! If you are wanting to grow out your hair, or maybe you just feel it is dry, try my 30 day challenge! I would love to hear how it goes for you and what you think of these products! If you have any recommendations of what products you love, please share them with me! :)

Have a Happy Healthy Hair Year!
